- What insights have you gained about research from taking this course?
I learned that
there is a lot that goes into conducting research in early childhood.
There is so much to do before even being to do the research such as
parental consent and forming a research question.
- In what ways have your ideas about the nature of doing research changed?
My ideas about the nature of doing research has not changed in a positive way. After all of the required readings and work on the research simulation, I realize more than ever that research is not an avenue that I will pursue. So much goes into it from planning, to designing and then to conducting the research. Then on top of everything else, you have to assure its accuracy. I really don't think I have the patience to even begin the research process.
- What lessons about planning, designing, and conducting research in early childhood did you learn?
I learned that in order to successfully conduct research, it takes a very organized and dedicated person. There are so many steps involve in planning, designing, and conducting research in early childhood that must be put into place in order to properly research a topic.
- What were some of the challenges you encountered—and in what ways did you meet them?
My main issue I encountered was formulating the best research question for the simulation. I think I went through about two or three before I settled on one question. There only way I got passed the challenge was to take our professor's advice into consideration and to truly think about what question would be meaningful and easy to actually research.
- What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course?
My perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course in many ways. I realize more now, than ever, that everything we know to be true and correct, is all due to research. I never thought about all that goes into research and all the good that can come from it. It takes a strong, dedicated individual to do this job.
