Quality Programs for All Children

In my opinion, there is not enough emphasis  placed on the value and importance of providing quality services for young children and families.  I hope in the near future, people see how important early childhood education really is. We help prepare children for headstart, preschool, and all other educational endeavors. There is not enough funding available to for adequate early childhood programs and there is not enough assistance to help parents pay for quality programs.  I think one of my main concerns is the fact that, in my city at least, early childhood educators are some of the lowest paid. It is hard to find quality educators when the pay is not right. Without qualified teachers, we can not provide the educational needs that need to be met.

  1. There needs to be more issue focus on providing quality care for all regardless of their economic background. Many families face difficult circumstances but that does not mean they should not be able to provide the care. We differently need more qualify teachers especially in a preschool setting.

  2. I have always thought that the teachers and workers in this important field were undervalued. There is not enough support and training and they are overworked and frustrated. This causes turnover and inconsistency. We need to work to provide them with more training and education and demonstrate how valuable we understand them to be!

  3. Kimberly,
I would love to see a greater interest and investment in quality early childhood education. This will greatly improve children's education. Also, more families need access to these programs.

  4. Internships would be such a good idea for students to better understand not just from an academic perspective but from an observation point of view to fully grasp the importance of quality care. There are so many areas of need to focus on and in order for us to be efficient we need to know more than what we think.
